History and Financial Giving

Moorhead Chapter No 164 was organized on March 27, 1903 and Instituted June 16, 1903 with officers Installed.  August 10, 1903 MECCA Chapter No 5, Fargo, ND presented Moorhead with their first set of jewels.  In the spring of 1918 Sister Lucy Sheffield was elected and installed Associate Grand Conductress of Minnesota Grand Chapter.  Sister Lucy was installed as Worthy Grand Matron in May 1921.

September 14, 1920 at the request of the Masons the chapter's meeting night was changed to the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month which holds true today.  February 13, 1928 The Past Matrons Club is formed with 14 members including three charter members.  In May 1945 Grand Chapter was not held until the war ban on conventions is lifted.  Moorhead Chapter voted to support a Job's Daughters Bethel which was instituted in December 1945 with 20 girls.

The year of 1970-1971 the first Salad Bar was held which continues today. May 14, 1984 the Chapter votes to make lap robes and slippers for the Masonic Home.  This project continues today with the making of lap robes.  March 25th, 1995 Moorhead Chapter hosts the first "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" for students of the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorders Clinic which continued until March 2010.

On June 1, 1995 the Moorhead Masonic Building was destroyed by fire.  The Fargo OES chapters invited Moorhead Chapter to meet in Fargo.  This arrangement continued until Feb 23, 1998 when the first meeting was held in the Moorhead Masonic Family Center.  That year two projects were started that were largely responsible for furnishing the kitchen in the new building.  November 27th, 1995 Brother John Ramlo asked the chapter to serve lunch for Daylight Lodge in Fargo.  This service continues today on the 3rd Monday of the month.  In January of 1996 The Soup Feed was stared as a way to help fund the new building.  It continues today with proceeds donated to building needs.
